Rocktober 8: Walk This Way

 

In yesterday’s Rocktober post I said ‘rap is rock’ and the validity of that statement dates back to 1986, when Run DMC—under the direction of iconoclast rock/rap producers Rick Rubin and Russell Simmons—covered Aerosmith’s 1975 song Walk this Way.

The rock/rap collaboration brought rap into the mainstream and saved rock kings Aerosmith who were on a drug and booze fueled downward spiral for years up to that time. And of course the video (below) ranks high on best-ever lists by Rolling Stone (#11), MTV (#5), VH1 (#11), and Fuse (#24).
