THE BASIS POINT

Rocktober 20: Wake Up | Rage Against The Machine

Tonight’s Rocktober pick is Wake Up by Rage Against The Machine. It came out in 1992 and still gives me chills as it conjures younger days, possessed in the moshpit. Fun fact: the opening riff is from Led Zeppelin’s Kashmir. And of course most know that this is the anthem of The Matrix, and plays into the credits as Keanu Reeves recites the last line of the movie.

This is a ‘radically poetic’ rock song for the ages, so put the volume on 10 and put your ‘fist in the air in the land of hypocrisy’. This one’s for you and your own battles, not the Occupy Wall Street set. I already dedicated Civil War to them.
