THE BASIS POINT

Rocktober 26: Simple Man | Lynyrd Skynyrd

Tonight’s Rocktober installment is dedicated to my only son who just turned three. Simple Man by Lynyrd Skynyrd came out when I was one year old, and it’s about a mom sharing life lessons with her boy. I try do that with a birthday letter to my son each year, but there’s simply no other artform that evokes my fatherly emotions like Simple Man. So here it is, a lifetime of wisdom in a song that was written in one hour.
