Empire State Manufacturing Survey (August 2015)

– General Business Conditions Index -14.92.  Previous was +2.86.  This is the worst reading since April 2009.

This is a piece of data which is a relic of when New York State was important to manufacturing.

Housing Market Index (August 2015)

– Housing Market Index 61.  Previous was 60.

The National Association of Home Builders produces a housing market index based on a survey of homebuilders to rating the general economy and housing market conditions. It is not that homebuilders are economic savants but it is the case that their collective views are what drive homebuilding.
