Key Stats From November Jobs Report

BLS Employment Situation Report (November 2016)

– Nonfarm Payrolls month/month 178,000. Previous was 142,000
– Unemployment Rate 4.6%. Previous was 4.9%
– Private Payrolls month/month 156,000. Previous was 135,000
– Labor Participation Rate 62.7%. Previous was 62.8%.
– Average Hourly Earnings month/month -0.1%. Previous was 0.4%
– Average Workweek length 34.4 hrs. Previous was 34.4 hrs

This is another weak report. Taking into account changes to the two previous months the gain in jobs was 176,000 which is about 30,000 more than what is needed to keep pace with population growth. The Unemployment Rate fell largely because 226,000 people left the Labor Force.
