CHART: Nonbank lenders now make majority of U.S. home purchase loans

 

Here’s a slide from the Mortgage Bankers Association economic update presented at their annual conference this week. It shows how nonbank lenders have steadily increased their market share in making home purchase loans to consumers in recent years, and now their market share is at 51% vs. 36% for large depository banks.
