Friday Funk: If You Want Me To Stay

Tonight’s Friday Funk installment is If You Want Me To Stay, a song released by Sly & The Family Stone in 1973 and it was their last top 20 hit. It’s about Sly reminding his lady that he’s got to have the freedom to be himself or he won’t stay. But I also like it as reminder for everyone slaving away at their jobs to keep their perspective. Don’t just ask yourself: is this good for the company? You must also ask yourself: what will it take for me to stay?

Something to ponder this weekend. Enjoy. I’m also including a Red Hot Chili Peppers cover from their 1985 album Freaky Styley. Props to @FunkRadio for playing it today.
