Are Mortgage Rates Just 7% Forever Now?

 
 

Matt Graham’s Mortgage News Daily mortgage recap for the week doesn’t sugar coat the reality of rates being back at 7% to start March. But there’s some hope.

By the time the Fed gets to its peak rates, the markets will already trade ahead of that. Bonds will likely rally ahead of inflation moderating, which would bring rates down.

Also, note that rates don’t look as high as 7% in the press right now. They won’t until Freddie Mac releases their rate survey next Thursday. But Mortgage News Daily data is more real time.
