Crazy Stat: ratio of Bay Area homes built for each job created

 

Bay Area builder TRI Pointe Homes is one of the newer players in the region, having come on post financial crisis, but they’ve made a big splash pretty fast in areas just outside San Francisco. You hear a lot about never ending job growth in the Bay Area, but here’s TRI Pointe exec Jeff Frankel with a stat that shows how housing can’t keep up.

For every one and a half jobs you create, you want to build one house to keep up with that. But, in the Bay Area it’s somewhere between five and six jobs per house that gets built.
