Henry Blodget’s Team Explains Facebook $1b Revenues In 27 Words

The Business Insider, besides being a good blog run by former Merrill internet stock analyst Henry Blodget, also has a separate research arm called TBI Research. Melding media company with internet/media industry analysis company is a smart business model because it increases revenues without needing to be regulated (much like industry analysis firms such as Gartner and Forrester), and even more interesting since extreme internet stock analysis caused regulators to ban Blodget from the securities industry in 2003, and media has brought him back to prominence. Anyway, here’s TBI’s analysis (and support) of Facebook’s projected $1b revenues in 27 words:

Facebook’s scale makes a Facebook Page the best landing page for brands advertising on the Internet. Facebook ads are the best at driving traffic to Facebook Pages.

The media sales team from Facebook came in and gave a presentation at my ad agency a few weeks ago. What they do makes a ton of sense for advertisers – surgically targeted placements with massive viral capacity that’s more realized than theoretical. Given Facebook’s size and growth trajectory, what they’ll be able to offer will only become more valuable.

Prediction: Blodget’s next career is football commentator. Change a few words and you have…

The football game is the best place for football scores. Football players are the best at making football plays.

  3. After engineering his way around his securities industry ban, Blodget probably could very well be the next Dennis Miller on Monday Night Football. Only he’s actually smart rather than just a user of big words.
