Q&A With HuffingtonPost Founders Arianna Huffington & Ken Lerer

Yesterday, the WSJ had a good Q&A with HuffingtonPost.com founders Ariana Huffington and Ken Lerer. The site, founded in 2005, gets 11 million unique visitors per month and received 2.3m comments last month. This is a good piece on new media, start up culture, and the power of a good partnership.

  1. good article. have been reading HuffPo since it launched. nice to know the partnership behind it is smart, savvy, and passionate about the product. (but they could totally use more moderators, better headline writers, and a little more design clarity.)

  2. I actually like their layout, I like the fact that they've kept homepage looking more like a blog than a traditional news site even as they've grown into a traditional news site. As for moderating, I guess that's just a cost control thing, if you've got 2m plus comments per month, you can only moderate so much. (and speaking of moderation difficulties, I responded to this a couple hours ago via email and it's not posting to the site–something's wrong with Disqus email moderation it seems).
