Rocktober 13: Slave, Rolling Stones

 

I was 10 years old when I first heard the Rolling Stones Tattoo You album. Actually it was a tape. I convinced my parents to buy it for me during a stop on a family car trip. We listened to it in the car, and that’s my earliest memory of listening to a song over and over and over.

That infinite repeat song was Slave and it’s embedded here as today’s Rocktober installment. Listening to it tonight as I write this post, I’m reminded of why: infectious blend of rock, blues and funk. And it’s ‘down with the man’ lyrics make this classic rock in the truest sense of the term.
