Friday Funk: Everybody Wants Some

I’ve been saying Galactic is the modern day Meters for like 20 year now, which doesn’t only make me old, it begs the question: who is the modern day Galactic? I’ll get to that some other Friday—perhaps when they release their next album in a few weeks.

For now, what less funk-tional readers need to know is Galactic members are now the elder statesmen of New Orleans funk, and tonight’s Friday Funk installment is a 1, 2, 3 part series from their 1996 album Coolin Off that builds, then builds, then builds again.

Just like we’re all trying to do in life and work. And if you build long enough—and well enough—eventually Everybody Wants Some. Isn’t that the dream everyone’s spitting in their streams and is it all what it seems? I say who gives a f**k. Build your way, for your reasons. That’s the only way you’ll keep rising above 1, 2, 3 years from now.
