Friday Funk: The Final Comedown

Tonight’s Friday Funk installment is The Final Comedown by Blue Note guitar legend Grant Green. It’s off a 1971 album of the same name. Fun fact: the album was recorded as the soundtrack for a 1972 Blaxploitation movie (also of the same name) starring Billy Dee Williams, who was fresh off his massive hit TV movie Brian’s Song in which he played Chicago Bears star football player Gale Sayers.

But that’s not why I chose the song. I chose it like I choose all my Friday Funk songs: because it’s pure original funkiness. But I’ve been holding this song for months to see if rates would reverse their upward course this year (which they did this week), and then ask the question everyone will be asking for the next couple weeks: is this the final comedown?

Part of the answer is in my weekly rate recap link below. But first: listen to the song and get your cool back for the weekend…
