Friday Funk: The Safecracker

It’s that time again to wind it down, and tonight’s Friday Funk installment is from Memphis trio The City Champs. The Safecracker is the title track off their 2009 album, and this slow-build soul-jazz instrumental will surely get your cool back for the weekend even if 2019 is starting off rough, or you think you’re incapable of finding your cool. This cut will crack your safe and let it out. I’m choosing it because I’ve been listening to The City Champs all year as I’ve tried to unleash an independent career vision that’s been locked inside me somewhere for years. And only now doest it seem like the safe might bust open. May it give you the same inspiration.
