Is rich trash pushing Montauk locals out of funky surf trailers, or do Long Island OGs laugh as they sell for 3.75m?

Until now, I assumed Montauk was always rich. Google ‘Montauk chairs’ and I dare you to find one under $1000. But NY Post described how the Long Island fishing and surf village has long been a working class local place. This is a good post about how high prices for seaside real estate both benefit and drive out locals.
Montauk, the place $2k chairs are named after, now has $3.75m trailers. Are rich people trashing it?
