Rocktober 18: Song Pick by James Altucher

Rocktober rolls on with another mellow pick tonight from James Altucher, a favorite writer of mine because he’s the most truthful blogger out there, period. I met him last week after he spoke at a conference, and asked him if his truthfulness as a writer hurts his credibility as an investment pro. His response: his writing gains him more new business than it loses him (and here’s what he wrote the next day).

Then I asked him to pick a song for my 31 Days Of Rocktober series. Without hesitation, he offered One by Harry Nilsson, an artist Altucher explained was the favorite U.S. singer/songwriter of both John Lennon and Paul McCartney. There was also a popular version of One by Three Dog Night, but as Altucher says (and I agree after listening): Three Dog Night was over-produced bullshit, and it’s really Nilsson who nailed the proper tone and mood of the song. Read Altucher’s full post on the song and compare both versions below.
