ICSC-Goldman Store Sales  (week ended 7/5/2014)

– Store Sales week/week +1.7%. Previous was +1.0%

– Store Sales year/year +3.3%. Previous was +4.6%

 

Redbook (week ended 7/5/2014)

– Store Sales year/year +6.0%. Previous was +3.1%.

There may have been more shopping as a hurricane approached the East Coast.

 

JOLTS (May 2014)

This is The Labor Department’s Job Openings and Labor Turnover Survey.

– Job Openings  4,635,000. Previous was 4,455,000. March was 4,166,000.

The upward movement in Job Openings is a good sign.  Last week’s BLS Employment Situation Report shows that 95.5% of the added jobs were part-time.  It remains to be seen whether these jobs openings turn into full or part time.

NFIB Small Business Optimism Index (June 2014)

– Optimism 95.5. Previous was 96.6.
